| This talk will review recent visions and activities around cyberinfrastructure and empowered of distributed but functionally completed knowledge communities. Leadership in this area is now coming primarily from science and engineering research communities (e-science) but it is now also being explored in the context of humanities as well as implications for the future education more broadly. The talk will relate cyber infrastructure to the emergence of new forms of knowledge ecologies that hold promise for more synergistic and open approaches to learning, research, and meaningful engagements across disciplines, practice, cultures, and nations.
